Abstract

Considering that the Critical Literacy is, nowadays, the most modern language teaching method, the purpose of the present doctoral dissertation is to investigate its place in Greek language education. Particularly, the theoretical principles of the Critical Literacy are presented. Furthermore, we examine the adoption and implementation of the above principles in the teaching of modern Greek in secondary education, through the analysis of the official provided educational material (Curricula, Textbooks, Teaching Instructions). The aim of the project is, on the one hand, to gain a broader understanding of what is valid today in language education and, on the other hand, to highlight the role of the Critical Literacy as a tool of thought and action, which brings new perspectives to the forefront of educational reality.
